The District is committed to promoting and improving multi-modal forms of transportation that produce fewer GHG emissions and give District residents better access to jobs, training opportunities, community resources, and recreational activities. The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is dedicated to a long-range plan to identify gaps in bicycle and pedestrian routes in all residential areas, to provide low-stress routes that are safe, comfortable, and inviting for all ages to use.
The applicant will select 10 District residents to receive a clean mode of transportation in the form of a pedal-assist E-bike. The data will help determine whether the E-bikes help increase the residents’ access to jobs, training opportunities, community resources, and recreation. The grantee will evaluate the E-bikes’ use. DOEE hopes to use the report and participants’ experience to help determine how District government can similarly benefit additional residents.
